Progress in Works, Volume One
Late last year, a good friend and fellow co-worker enlisted my help in filling her empty den wall. Around that time, I had some three-dimensional painting experiments to try out, so this was a perfect opportunity for some test runs. After finding some nice inspiration, she passed along the desired spatial dimensions and color swatches of her den’s décor, leaving me set to begin.
The above images show the early preparation stage. After sketching the background vine contour and individual leaves on plywood panels, I cut them all out, along with the needed risers. Once that was done, I roughly assembled the pieces together to make sure I had a decent composition. Having enough material at that point, it was then a matter of sanding all of it down to prepare for priming and painting.
